Alpha-Stim Smart Probes vs. AS-Trode™ Electrodes for Pain Treatment
Understand the differences between using Smart Probes and AS-Trode adhesive electrodes for delivering MET pain relief.
When treating pain with the Alpha-Stim M device using Microcurrent Electrical Therapy (MET), you have two primary options for delivering the treatment: the handheld Smart Probes or the adhesive AS-Trode™ electrodes. Both are effective, but they are used in different ways.
Smart Probes for Quick, Targeted Relief
The Smart Probes are handheld wands used to deliver quick, highly targeted treatments. By placing the probes directly around the area of pain and moving them in specific patterns, you can effectively treat acute pain, trigger points, and localized soreness. A typical probe treatment takes only 2 to 5 minutes per site, making it ideal for immediate, on-the-spot relief.
AS-Trode™ Electrodes for Hands-Free, Extended Therapy
AS-Trode™ adhesive electrodes are pads that stick to your skin. They are designed for longer, hands-free treatments, typically lasting 20 to 60 minutes. This method is excellent for chronic pain, widespread pain, or when treating areas that are difficult to reach with the probes (like the middle of your back). You can simply apply the pads, turn on the device, and relax or go about your day.
Which Should You Use?
Many users find that a combination of both methods works best. You might use the Smart Probes for a quick 5-minute treatment to immediately reduce acute pain, followed by a longer 20-minute session with the AS-Trode pads for sustained relief and deep tissue healing.
